About

Jukka Räsänen

a goldsmith, art engraver & Master of Culture and Arts

I graduated from Lahti Institute of Design and Fine Arts as an art engraver/goldsmith. Up until 1998 I worked as a goldsmith in Helsinki and in the beginning of 1999, I opened my own workshop in Oulu. My first workshop was located on Pakkahuoneenkatu from where we moved to the former Stockmann property. In 2008 I found a larger space for the workshop on Saaristonkatu, where, together with Janne Kannisto, we opened a new shop called Uniqkoru. The workshop moved once again, this time to the historical 100-year-old building of Puistola. We had the amazing chance to continue a long-lasting tradition: there has always been a jeweller or watchmaker in this very same space that we still hold. So the circle closed and I was back where I first started in 1999, just a few steps from my original workshop.

I spend my free time outdoors. I have travelled around numerous mountains with my ski’s and climbing equipment. These mountains have left their mark in me on my adventures around the world. When there is no snow, I enjoy wandering around the forests of Northern Finland hunting and fishing. These adventures have been precious me time but also provided inspiration for my work.
